“Aquascape Fantasia”
After passing through a pathway, one finds an underwater paradise where tropical fish live in comfort. This layout was inspired by such an imaginary world, and I tried to enjoy the layout with a fantastic view of the world. The vivid red of the Alternanthera reineckii ‘Mini’ is impressive and emphasizes the fantastic atmosphere and vitality of the creatures that live there.

Fantasy themed aquascape focusing on the sense of scale

This aquascape was created as an attempt to express a fantastic world view in the space of a W60cm standard aquarium. Therefore, I made some creative efforts at the composition stage to create a layout with depth and expanse. The 60cm standard aquarium is an easy size to handle, so it is ideal as a study work before trying a new expression in a large aquarium.
Depth created by embankment and pathway
In addition to the embankment, driftwood was placed up the slope to create a path. The path and the planting on both sides of the path lead the eye to the back of the aquascape, creating a natural sense of depth.
Eye-catching appearance of Alternanthera reineckii ‘Mini’
Slow-growing and hard to grow oversized, Alternanthera reineckii ‘Mini’ is the perfect accent plant. The flashy red color may seem unwieldy at first glance, but in this layout, Tonina fluviatilis is effectively planted around them to blend in with the fantastical aquascape image.
