Mizukusa FOCUS ‘The Increasing Variety of Liquid-Cultured Plants’

Editors of Aqua JournalEditors of Aqua Journal
BIO Mizukusa-no-Mori products have continued to evolve and become easier to handle than ever. Among its product lineup, we take a close look at liquid-cultured products in this article. Please try them out in your layouts.
In tissue culture production, agars such as polysaccharides are commonly used to secure tissue cultured plants as support media, along with nutrients. In mushroom cultivation, liquid culture media may  be used, instead of support media, when cultivating spawns in order to accelerate their growth and shorten the cultivation period. In the case of higher organisms such as aquatic plants, liquid media have the advantage of speeding up their growth, but could cause transparent leaves and stems during cultivation, resulting in poor growth. ADA has been working on improving the quality of liquid media in order to maintain the good plant quality and make planting easier without the supporting agar. The optimal composition of liquid medium depends on the type of plant you grow. ADA actively conducts trials and testing so that plants that are still produced in agars can be converted to liquid media in the future. Please look forward to the coming lineup!
