MINI NA_06 Perils of Rising Water Temperature – Mini NA in the Summer
Generally, people perceive aquariums as a source of coolness during summer, but that’s from the viewer’s perspective. For those who manage them, summer poses a critical situation as the water temperature rises. For those enjoying such mini NA at home, they experience both perspectives, making summer a particularly tricky season. Especially with mini tanks that have small water volumes, even turning off the air conditioner for a brief outing can cause the water temperature to rise in no time.
To solve this problem, it’s a common wish among aquascapers to keep the air conditioner running year-round, but getting agreement from family or a partner can be difficult. The item to rely on here is the Circulation Fan 40. It can be easily installed on the tank’s Metal Cover Mini using dedicated magnet parts (sold separately). While the cooling effect varies based on the surrounding temperature and humidity, it generally lowers the water temperature by about 2-4°C.
Since it lowers the water temperature using evaporative cooling, the water in the tank decreases more quickly when used, so frequent topping up of water is necessary. Although it’s not as effective as an air conditioner or a dedicated aquarium cooler, it is a reliable item for situations where you want to lower the water temperature just a little. Additionally, because it’s a mini tank, frequent water changes can serve as an emergency measure. You may find enjoyment in the water-changing process as a summer activity, and satisfaction afterwards as you sit back and admire your cool, refreshing aquascape.
