ADA EVENT REPORT: ADA workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa

Over the 14th and 15 of October, ADA Suikei creator Daichi Araki gave a workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa. Being early summer there, the weather was balmy and the city brimming with the purple of jacaranda trees.
A variety of ADA products were displayed in the venue, which held about seventy people and was originally a studio. With all tickets sold it was understood that guest expectations were high. The first day focused on creating the Cube Garden W600 and the System Paluda 60, the second day on creating the Cube Garden W1200.
With questions fired fervently throughout, it became a content packed workshop. After completing his layout, a long queue formed for Araki’s signature.  It was ADA’s first workshop on the African continent but was a great success and ended with warm praise from the guests.
Though the aquarists faced some tough realities, like regular power outages or sudden water stoppage, all the guests were extremely happy, with one big ADA fan even drawing an illustration whilst watching Araki’s layout creation.
There are many IAPLC contest entrants from South Africa and the level is getting higher each year. South Africa may be a latecomer to aquatic layouts but the momentum there is eye-opening. As the South African market is also developing we would like to actively promote ADA products there.
