Q. Driftwood such as Branch wood and Horn wood do not sink in water.

A. Driftwood is dry when it is sold and may float until water soaks into it. Place a weight on the wood and leave the wood inside the water for about 2 weeks. You may soak the wood in a pail of water before using it for layout. Note that driftwood may become unusable if exposed to hot temperature due to the resin coming out of the wood. Do not boil driftwood in a pan or splash hot water onto driftwood.
